Investigation into the efficacy and safety of a COVID-19 Virus Specific T-cell (VST) therapy in the treatment of SARS-CoV-2.
Adaptive immunity comes in two forms: antibodies and T cells. T cells are some of the white blood cells we all have in our blood that help fight off infection. The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) are hoping to show that virus-specific T cells could be useful for the treatment of those who have COVID-19, or are at high risk of developing severe COVID-19.
COVID-19-specific T cells have never been tested in humans before. We are asking participants to have this T cell product to test whether it is safe to use on patients who have SARS-CoV-2 infection.
